Fateful Crossings
Well, what can I say? A year and a half in the making (a bit more if you count the DVD), 6 MiniDV tapes, ~30 hours making costumes, at least 8 shooting dates, several computer-days of render time, ~90 hours of rotoscoping lightsabers, and a solid week of bluescreening/keying (that is, about ten hours per fifteen seconds). The result? The 37 minute 9 second film you see here. Was it worth it? I, at least, think so. It was a lot of fun (for the most part), and we all learned a lot about film-making.
So, now for a plot summary. A newly formed stargate team (SG-27) is sent on a routine screening/exploration expedition to a relatively uninhabited planet. The routine mission becomes very non-routine when they fall in with some unexpected company. The repercussions of their actions may rock the very foundations of the SGC and all of the known universe.
Ok, so maybe that is a bit grand of a plot summary, but I think you should take the time to watch it. At the very least you'll be able to sit around your computer and disparage our acting (not too hard), the editing (a little bit harder, but still not terribly taxing), and the CG (considerably harder seeing that, for a non-professional fanfilm, we have relatively top-notch CG).
Now to the downloads, which is why you are here in the first place. You will have to download VLC player from http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ to play them. They are all XviD encodes with OGG audio. I have used a .mkv container because it is one of the few container types that supports OGG audio. Don't worry, though. VLC player is a small download, painless install, and a great video player. So download and install it, then get on with watching the movie.
